About Us
Since its founding in 1915, the Burlington County Historical Society has developed into a fundamental resource for the history of the county. Today the society manages three historic homes, a purpose built museum, and a historical research library. While the society is of great benefit to the local community, we have entertained visitors from all over the U.S., some visitors coming from as far away as Texas, Florida and the West Coast. Our work includes guiding various city tours, performing "in-house" programs, outreach programs, genealogical research, and hosting outside programs at our modern "Corson Poley Center" facility (a recent example of this was a local Quilting seminar, however we have been host a great variety of events over the years).
Mission Statement
The mission of the Burlington County Historical Society is to encourage historical study and research; to acquire and preserve records, artifacts, and articles of historical interest; and to interpret the history of the area through education, programs, projects and pursuits in order to convey this historical legacy to current and future generations.
Vision
The Burlington County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and interpreting Burlington County's nationally significant history. We are committed to teaching that historic legacy. We intend to carry out this important work through partnerships with businesses as well as the community, educational, and governmental agencies. We seek support from a diverse, ever-growing network of members, volunteers and funding sources. Realizing this vision of the future will enable us to enrich the lives of current and future generations by giving them a greater appreciation for their heritage.

If you are interested, please send us an e-mail or write a letter to the address listed above letting us know a bit about you, your interest in the society and your free hours and we will contact you if we have any work we you can help with.

If you are interested in becoming an intern at BCHS please e-mail us at burlcohistsoc@verizon.net, or write to us with a little information about you, your degree, and what you would like to learn from us and we will let you know if you can join our team.

Donations

We are not a state or federally funded organization, so if you would like to make a donation to help maintain and enhance our collections it would be greatly appreciated.

Below is an example of how your donation might assist in the upkeep of our facility.

Help us raise $10,000 this year. Every contribution helps!

$1,000 - will help restore the James Fenimore Cooper and the James Lawrence houses.
$500 - will help conserve one of our unique 18th century documents.
$250 - will furnish a history trunk for our off-site education programs.
$100 - will buy supplies for our crafts program for visiting groups of children.
$5 - $99 - will help defray operating costs like utilities & property maintenance.

Please make checks payable to: Burlington County Historical Society and mail them to the address listed below.

Gifting Artifacts, Photos or Documents

Do you possess artifacts or documents that you feel might compliment our collections? If so please contact us, and a member of staff will investigate whether we are able to accept it. We are keen on adding to our collections, but take the professional position not to receive gifts which we either do not have a place for, or does not fit our mission/collections.

To make things simpler you might want to download the file below, fill it in and bring it when you visit (after our accepting your gift by mail, e-mail or phone).
